The OSU Department of Biomedical Informatics Clinical Image Analysis (CIA) Lab is hosting Dr. Erkan Mumcuoglu as a Fulbright visiting professor. Dr. Mumcuoglu is an Associate Professor of Medical Informatics at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He is also among the founders of the same department.
Dr. Mumcuoglu's main research interest is Medical Image Analysis: segmentation, registration, computer-aided diagnosis and content-based image retrieval. His Ph.D. degree is from University of Southern California on statistical PET image reconstruction algorithms and modeling. Dr. Mumcuoglu has been collaborating with Dr. Metin Gurcan from our department in the segmentation of retinal mitocondria on electron-microscopy images.
Dr. Mumcuoglu is going to give a talk on his research actvities on Feb. 12 at 4 pm as part of the departmental Research In Progress (RIP) Seminar Series.
